In addition to everything related to functionality and security, everything related to Windows customization is something that Microsoft is very concerned about. That is why little by little they launch new options that allow us to adapt the operating system to our needs. Here we will focus on customizing the Windows screen, one of the most important elements of any computer.
As we mentioned, this is something that over time has spread to all kinds of environments and users. Specifically, we refer to the possibility of adapting something as important as the operating system, to the needs of each user. In fact, there are many parameters that we can use in this regard. Thus, what we actually achieve is that one of the most important programs on any computer, such as the operating system, works according to what we need.
Serve as an example that, when it comes to personalizing this that we are commenting on, as we have seen on several occasions in the past, one of the most common tasks is through the backgrounds and themes that we use on the desktop. But of course, this goes much further, since these are elements that allow us to give a personalized look to the system, but surely we need to dig deeper.
Access options to customize the Windows screen
As we mentioned, everything related to the customization of the system is one of the most important features of Windows at the moment. Since its inception, this operating system brought with it a series of options and functions that had not been seen in any previous version of Windows. With this, what we want to tell you is that, beyond being able to change elements such as colors, backgrounds or themes, users want to have much more control. All this in order to adapt the operating system to your needs.
Although these users request many other functions and features related to customization, these are coming little by little. To say that many of these functionalities that we are talking about here, we find them in the Windows Settings application . To open this element, we only have to make use of the Win + I key combination. Here we can find a huge number of options, many of them related to what we point out, customization.
However, in these same lines we are going to focus on something as important as the screen, an element that, as you know, we use constantly. In fact, it is the most important output device of the PC in most cases, so we must take care of it. Similarly, if we focus on the screen as such, right-clicking on the desktop, we find some options.
Display Settings function
One of the options that we find here and that refers to this element of the PC that we are talking about, is the so-called Screen configuration. If we click on this option, it sends us directly to the Configuration application discussed above, specifically to the System / Screen section. Here we find some important parameters that help us adapt the screen to what we need.
For example, in this section of the System, we have the possibility to optimize the use of the Night Light. This is a function that, once we have activated it, dims the colors and screen brightness when there is less ambient light. We can put it on when we really need it so that the screen does less damage to us when using it at night.
Another very important section that we find here to customize the screen is the resolution that we are going to use on it. The best we can do in this regard is to use the one recommended by the system itself , but it is something we can change. Everything will depend on the circumstances of each one. It is also worth noting that from here we can also change and customize the size of the texts throughout the operating system. This is something that we find in the Scale and distribution section. Likewise, Windows itself offers us a recommendation in this regard.
System Screen Customize Function
If we go back to the Windows desktop, as we mentioned before, we are also in its context menu with the Personalize option. If we click on it, we open a Settings application window again , as before. However, in this case we are in the Personalization option. In this case, this is a section that focuses more on the aesthetic aspect of the computer screen, than on the functional one.
Set a desktop background in Windows
In fact, this is where we find the elements that we talked about at the beginning, that is, the backgrounds and the themes. It is in this section of the Settings application where we can set these elements to our liking. To do this, in the drop-down list in the Background section, we can choose Image or Presentation.
The first option, as you can imagine, allows us to choose a photo that will be fixed on the desktop. On the contrary, the second allows us to choose a set of them that will be changed in the period of time that we indicate in Change image every. In this way we will always have images on the system’s desktop that will make us happy during long sessions in front of the PC.
Change Windows 10 theme and customize windows screen
On the other hand, we can also install a theme from those available in the operating system itself. To achieve this, in this same Configuration / Personalization window, in the left panel we go to Themes. Here we are going to find a series of topics that Windows itself makes available to us by default.
In the same way, in this same section we will see those topics that we previously downloaded directly from the Microsoft Store, for example. Therefore, from this section, we only have to choose the one we like the most to set it as the default and thus customize the windows screen.
How to increase the quality of the Windows background
We also have the option of modifying a parameter in the Windows registry with which we will improve the quality of the background that we have established. Therefore, at this point, the first thing we do is open the Windows registry editor by typing the regedit command in the search engine. Once we have this registry editor open, what we do is go to the following path:
In it we look for the entry called JPEGImportQuality in the list of values created, but if it is not available we create it. We do this by right-clicking on a blank space and selecting New / DWORD Value (32-bit), which we name JPEGImportQuality. Once created, we double-click on this new value and give it a number 64.
To finish we only have to close the registry editor and restart Windows. With this, what we achieve is that when we re-establish a Windows wallpaper again, it is saved at 100% quality.
