Basically, I know of two ways to get the WiFi key from my PC. The first method is to use the Network and Sharing Center, and the second is through the Command Prompt.

1) How to know the password of the WiFi to which I am connected on the PC

If you forgot the password of the WiFi network in which you are connected, you can easily find out by following these steps:

# 1. Right- click on the WiFi icon in the system tray and choose the option Open Internet and Network Settings.

Alternatively, you can type  ncpa.cpl  in the Start menu search box or in the Run command box.

# 2. In the Settings window that appears, scroll down and click on the Network and Sharing Center option .

# 3. You will find the section See active networks, and there you can see the network you are connected to. You just have to click on the Wi-Fi link (WiFi network name).

# 4.  In the Wi-Fi Status window that opens, click the Wireless Properties button .

# 5.  In Wireless Network Properties, select the Security tab and check the  Show characters box.

The password will appear in the text box next to Network Security Key.

This is how I know the password of the WiFi to which I am currently connected. Here we are not talking about seeing the neighbor’s WiFi key, unless you already have it saved on your PC.

However, this method is not suitable for viewing the password for other WiFi networks saved in Windows. For example, if you want to get the password of a network to which you are not connected, you must use the following method.

2) View saved WiFi passwords in Windows 10 with CMD

With the Command Prompt you can see all the networks saved in Windows 10, Windows 8, Windows 7, Windows Xp, etc. In addition, it allows you to know the password for each of them. Follow the steps below:

# 1.  Open the Command Prompt by typing  CMD  in the Start menu or in the search box.

# 2.  In the Command Prompt window, type this command and hit the Enter key .

netsh wlan show profiles

This will let you see all the saved WiFi networks on your Windows 10 PC. All saved wireless network profiles will be displayed, as you can see in the image above.

# 3.  Now you must enter the following command to see the password of the saved WiFi network that you need.

netsh wlan show profile WiFiname key = clear

You should replace nameWiFi with the name of the WiFi network in your case. In my example, the wireless network name (SSID) is pathgeek.com.

The password is displayed in the Key Content entry , under the Security Settings section . See the image above.

So when we need to connect other devices to the network, we can’t figure out how to do it. It is much easier to search for it in your saved networks than to reset the router or WiFi modem.
