How to activate or put the sound when turning on or logging in to your MacOS computer

Today we have to consent to our users who prefer the company with the bitten apple, that is Apple, because today we will be talking about our macOS computers and something that will bring back memories to some of us.

Music is one of the things that we remember the most at all times, but this time we are talking about a specific sound, if so, the sound that these computers emitted when they were turned on, as Microsoft’s Windows computers do. .

If you are one of those who obtained these computers before 2016, you know exactly what we mean, because after this year, the following computers stopped playing them. It is for this reason that today here at Look How It Is Made, we will be teaching you how to recover this sound on your macOS computer.

Turn your Mac’s startup sound on and off

As I mentioned a moment ago, to achieve our goal it is necessary to use the terminal and to achieve it we must follow the following steps:

  1. Once you turn on your computer you must go to Finder to be able to use the terminal, which is very easy, you just have to click on Finder.
  2. After that, you must go to the menu and click on it, which is located at the top of the screen.
  3. Once the options are displayed, you must search for a file and then click on it.
  4. A new option will appear called a new Finder window, where you can organize the files into folders if you wish.
  5. After this, in the left sidebar, you must find the application icon and click on it.
  6. You select where it says utilities folder and then in the option called terminal. All this process happens in the right part of the window.

Once you have entered the terminal from Finder, you just have to follow the following steps to activate the sound. Once in the terminal, you must enter the following command sudo nvram BootAudio =% 01 and after this you press accept. Once you do this, every time you turn on your computer you will be able to hear that sound that you miss so much.

But now that sound has become really annoying, don’t worry, just deactivate it as follows.

Once you have returned to the terminal in the same way that I was taught previously, you must write the following command, sudo nvram BootAudio =% 00 and that’s it every time you turn on your computer it will no longer have the characteristic sound.

Sound when turning on Mac computer

Yes, these computers have had a great variety of versions of operating systems and with it different sounds when they are turned on, but with the passage of time it seems this company got tired of them and decided to stop putting them in the new generations of Mac computers .

But in reality, it was rather that it gave all its users the opportunity to activate it or it, being already deactivated by default, because there is also the group of people who really prefer not to listen to it. What considered not?

The best of all is that its activation is done very easily and simply, we only have to do it through the terminal, with a simple command. In common situations it is very rare to enter this terminal, but these steps are really easy to understand.

Basic rules when writing commands.

There are a variety of rules when using it, but there is one that is very important. When writing the commands in the terminal it is important that all characters are taken into account, including even spaces. Another rule is that you cannot use the mouse, but you can only navigate with the arrows on your keyboard.

All these commands will always be executed in their current location, that is, if a location is not placed in the command, it will use the last location indicated.

As you can see, it is really easy to restore this sound on our macOS computers, so I invite you to try this method, but remember not to use other commands of which you are not sure since they can affect your computer and we do not want that.
