How to download all photos from Google Photos

Using applications such as Google Photos allows users to store and back up important images and videos. They are kept in the cloud and can be downloaded to the device you want in a matter of minutes. For this you have the option of downloading a single file, a complete album or all the content stored in the application. This last alternative can be useful if your main equipment has failures or is lost.

In this sense, any device (computer or smartphone) that you access from your Google account, will allow you to view and download all the content that was stored in the cloud. It is worth mentioning that only those that were uploaded before the cell phone failure or loss will be kept. The process to follow for this is very simple, depending on the method you decide to use. From the computer

By logging into your Google Photos account, you will be able to view the content stored in the cloud and decide exactly what you want to download: an album, a photo or all the images or videos saved in your account.

Download all photos and videos

The first step to get all the files stored in your Google Photos account from your computer is to go tothis link. Then repeat the steps described below:

  1. Upon entering, all the checked boxes will appear. Press ” Unmark all ” to speed up the unmarking process.
  2. Now scroll until you find ” Google Photos ” and check the box again.
  3. Go to the bottom of the list and click ” Next Step.”
  4. Choose the file type, the size limit and the output format of the file.
  5. When everything is ready click on ” Create Export “.

At the end you will see a box informing that the export can take from several minutes to several hours. This will depend on your Internet connection and the amount of information stored in your Google Photos account. Wait patiently for the process to finish and when this happens, you will receive an email in your inbox indicating that everything is ready.

Within the same message you will find a link to download the exported file. Complete the process accordingly and everything will be ready.

Download only one album

To download a particular album from Google Photos from your computer, you must follow the steps below:

  1. Click on this link to go to the web version of Google Photos.
  2. If necessary, log in with your access credentials.
  3. Find the album you want to download and click on its name to select it.
  4. Click on the icon of the three dots.
  5. Select ” Download.”
  6. Please wait while the ZIP file with all the images is downloaded.

When the download is finished, unzip the file and you will have all the photos and videos corresponding to the selected album on your computer.

Download a specific photo or video

If you are looking to download a single image or video, what you should do is follow a series of steps similar to those described above.

  1. Login to your account in G
    ogle Photos
    from the PC.
  2. Open the image you want to download.
  3. Click on the icon of the three dots, located in the upper right corner.
  4. Select ” Download.”

Wait while the download finishes and, once finished, you will have the file you requested in your computer’s storage.

From the cellphone

As with the computer, there are three ways to download your content from Google Photos to your cell phone, download just one file, a complete album or all the photos and videos. However, the steps to follow for each of them are basically the same, with a few exceptions. See how to do it, below:

Download all content

Follow the instructions described below to download all your photos from Google Photos on your cell phone.

  1. Access the application.
  2. Click on your profile image.
  3. Select ” Manage your Google Account.”
  4. If this is the first time you do it, the app will welcome you. Press ” Start “.
  5. Go to the ” Data and Personalization ” tab .
  6. Swipe until you find the option ” Download your data ” and click on it.
  7. This will take you to a mobile web version of Google Takeout, press “ Unmark all ”.
  8. Swipe until you find “ Google Photos” and check the box again.
  9. Scroll down to the bottom and press ” Next Step “.
  10. Now you will have to choose the type of file, the size limit and the frequency with which you want to export it.
  11. When everything is ready, hit ” Create Export.”

When finished, you will see a box informing that the export can take minutes, hours and even days. It is worth mentioning that you can cancel this operation at any time, by pressing the corresponding option under the text. On the other hand, when you order the start of the processing of your data, you will receive an email indicating said action (this is for security measures).

Similarly, at the end of the export, another email will be sent to the address associated with Google Photos to inform that the process has been completed successfully. In it you will find a link that you will have to access to download the file folder.

Download a specific photo or video

In case you need to download only a specific file in Google Photos, what you should do is:

  1. Enter the app from your cell phone.
  2. Search the file gallery for the photo or video you want to download.
  3. Click on the icon of the three vertical dots.
  4. Select ” Download ” from the list of options.

Note : If this option is not shown, it means that the download of said file is not available. However, you can try another alternative like “Share”. In this way, you will be able to download the image from the medium used to send it to your contacts.

To finish, you just have to wait for the download to finish. Which you can check in the notification panel of your cell phone.
