#TBT on Instagram: what it means, how and what it is used for

#TBT is the well-known hashtag for acronyms in English whose meaning is “Throwback Thursday”, a tag that is becoming more and more popular on social networks. Now, what do these three letters really mean and why are they so widely used today? It is very simple, in Spanish, this phrase could be translated as ” Thursday of yesteryear ” or ” Thursday of the past “, referring to photographs or videos that were taken some time ago, but are considered important.

In this sense, every week different types of content are observed on the social networks of millions of people around the world, with this famous label. This happens particularly every Thursday (following the meaning in English) this is the day in which ” a look at the past ” is given. Although there is no set date for the appearance of this tag, Throwback Thursday has become one of the most used on social networks. It started on Twitter with the use of the phrase in various publications, but it was in 2012 when it really became known and became a trend. During the aforementioned year, photos of the past of different users began to circulate around the world adding the hashtag #TBT.

Which caused many celebrities to adopt the popular label and apply it as their own in their publications. In this way, they managed to make #TBT one of the most used in the technological era that we currently live in. However, many times this hashtag is used in the wrong way, accompanying very recent images or publications and even, on the wrong days.

How to use

As its name implies, Throwback Thursday or “Thursday of yesteryear”, refers to the past. That is why this hashtag should be used in new publications, with photos, images or videos from the past that bring to mind the nostalgia or the feeling of the moments lived.

Now, it is important to note that this label refers specifically to Thursday, that is, it should not be used on any other day of the week. However, it is very common to get publications that do not give the appropriate use to this hashtag, using it at any time or with images that are totally unrelated to the past.

Something that represents a serious error, especially if it is done from a business profile, as it denotes inexperience and an inappropriate use of labels. That is why you should avoid falling into these types of failures at all costs, using #TBT with recent photos or videos or, worse still, on a day other than Thursday.

On the other hand, the way to use this tag on Instagram or any other platform is very easy. You just have to write the pound sign (#) followed by the keyword you want, in this case, “TBT”. With this, the keyword will automatically change color, adding a search link and positioning your publication among the search results of the network, directly related to the term in question.

These are just some of the most used labels today.

As could be seen, Throwback Thursday is a label that occupies great relevance in social networks today. But it must be used properly to avoid unpleasant errors in your personal or corporate publications.
