“See how” on Facebook: how to see your profile as if you were someone else

Facebook is a very complete platform, with a lot of functions, features and settings. Even many users have not discovered all the peculiarities of the social network, one of the least known is “see how”. This option allows you to view your own profile as if you were someone else. That is, you can get a visualization of how your profile looks for other users of the platform.

This feature, although little known, is very promising. It is considered very useful, mainly for those who use Facebook to connect with other people within the same work environment, since they get a preview of what image they transmit to potential clients or partners with their profile on the social network. There are even many users who do not know this feature of the platform and have chosen to use alternate or friend accounts to view their profile.

From the computer

The steps to use Facebook’s “View as” function from a computer may vary depending on whether you use the new version or the classic version of the platform. In this section you will find the tutorial for both cases.

Classic version

The version that all users have become accustomed to for so long is still available for those who want to continue using it. The steps to follow will be detailed below:

  1. Login to your profile.
  2. Then, click on the button with three dots that is next to Activity log.
  3. A small drop-down menu will open, click on the ” View as ” option .
  4. Once this is done, you will see how other users see your profile. You will be able to navigate through your profile to see all the public information.
  5. When finished, click on the X in the upper right corner of the screen to exit the view.

New version

In the latest version of Facebook, several accesses and functions of the platform have changed, among them that of “see how”, which is much more accessible than in the previous one. Here is a guide to see your profile as if you were someone else in the new version of Facebook :

  1. First, go to your Facebook profile.
  2. Once in the account profile, click on the button with the icon in the shape of an eye.
  3. This will be all you need to view the profile as if you were another user.
  4. To exit this mode it is only necessary to press the Exit button of “View as”.

From the phone

There is more than one option to use the feature that allows you to view your profile as if you were someone else from your mobile phone. The main one is the application, however you can also enter Facebook from the browser and take advantage of this function.

App

The Facebook application is one of the most common means of browsing the social network since it offers the convenience of accessing it from anywhere, unlike the computer. Using the “view as” configuration in the app is very simple, just enter your profile and follow these steps:

  1. Press the button with three horizontal dots, to access the drop-down menu. This is located near the profile photo.
  2. Once in the menu, you will see a button with an eye icon and the words ” See as “, press it.
  3. Only with this, you will be able to see the profile as other users see it. Explore to see everything that is available on your wall for the general public. To leave this mode, you just have to press Exit “View as”.

Browser

You can also access the Facebook “view as” function from your mobile device’s browser. To do this, you will have to log in tohttps://www.facebook.com/ and follow these steps:

  1. Enter your profile.
  2. Once this is done, you can click on the three horizontal dots to open the drop-down menu.
  3. Select the ” View as ” option .
  4. So you can see your profile as if you were someone else.
  5. To exit this mode, just press “ Exit ”.

Note

Using this function you can explore your profile as if you were another Facebook user. This will be useful to verify that photos and posts are visible to all other users of the social network. It is not a very complicated process, especially if the new version is used from the computer.

On the other hand, this configuration is not available in Facebook Lite. Lite users must choose to log into the mobile browser, with the computer or obtain through the Facebook app to view their profile as if they were someone else.
