Nether portals in Minecraft are one of those common elements that, despite the fact that there are different versions of the game, are present in all of them. The Nether or underworld in Minecraft, is one of the three existing worlds, a place where you can fight the Enderdragon, a kind of final boss in Minecraft. And it is essential to be able to overcome this stage of the game, since, by doing so, access to hell is unlocked from Survival Mode.
If you have already tried to reach the Nether by all means and have not succeeded, it is because you still do not know that the only way to reach it is through a portal. In case you don’t know how to build a Nether portal in Minecraft and you want to know what materials you need to do it, don’t worry, since in the following lines you will get everything you need to know about it.
In order to access the Nether through a portal, you must first build it. However, what materials do you need exactly to make it? The answer is simple: only one. The problem with this is that that single material is nothing less than obsidian, one of the most difficult resources to obtain in the game.
Therefore, the only thing you will need is to collect obsidian. Consider that, to make your portal, you need between 10 and 14 blocks of obsidian.
Create and activate the portal
Now that you have your obsidian, you should know that making the portal is something quite simple, so you only have to place yourself in an open space and arrange the obsidian blocks in such a way that you get a rectangle 4 blocks wide by 5 blocks long.. You can also make a lighter version that only needs 2 blocks wide and 3 blocks long.
To make it easier for you, you can see an example of how to manually place the blocks to make your portal:
After building your portal, it’s time to activate it. Doing it is not complicated, since you only need to set it on fire, either with a lighter, torch or fireball. As soon as you do, the interdimensional gate connecting the Overworld and the Nether will be activated , so you’re ready to enter it.
To travel to the Nether , you simply have to stand inside it for 4 seconds and voila. Also, the procedure to return back to the Overworld is exactly the same.
