Why is it useful to fix certain rows in your Excel documents?

What this utility does is keep the selected rows always visible . A kind of floating cells, which are superimposed on the document. In this way, it is no longer necessary to go to the beginning of it. Much less, write down in a notebook, the category of each column .

- If you want to freeze a row in a document where you have already worked, open it.
- Otherwise, start Microsoft Office and create a new “Blank Book” .
As an example we will enter unrelated data . In the first row we will place “Column 1, 2 and 3” in separate cells. Under each of them we will write numbers, letters and days.
We will do this, up to the fourth row and then we will use the “smart fill”:
- Go to the “View” tab .
- Inside the “Window” section you will find the “Freeze” drop-down button .
- Press it and choose “Freeze top row” . This will make row 1 visible throughout the transfer we make within the table.
- The other two options contained within this button are equally useful .
- “Freeze first column” does the same as the previous one, but applied to “column A”.
In the event that you want to fix more than one row or column, you should use the “Freeze panels” alternative as follows:
- Select the next row you want to freeze . That is, if you want to set rows “1”, “2” and “3”, click on row “4” .
- Then press the “Freeze panels” button . By doing this you will be able to see a line that divides these three rows from the rest . This indicates that you have completed the process correctly.
- If what you need is to fix rows and columns at the same time, select the cell next to the sector you want to fix. That is, if you are going to freeze row 1 and column A, position yourself on “B2” .
- Then press “Freeze panels” . In this way, you will be able to move horizontally and vertically in the document, having the content of the first lines at the glance.
To undo these actions, go back to the “Window” section of the “View” tab . This time, the name of the button will be “Mobilize panels” . Press it.
